Review The Bakpackers Handbook - Chris Townsend

Post by Ady on 28th November 2013, 03:13

A great read easy to understand and loads of information on backpacking kit, including food, sleeping bags, rucksacks, tents, stoves, and all other aspects of gear.  Backpacking may not be your thing, but even so, this has all the information needed to build a great lightweight bug out bag, most of the equipment he has used and tried himself, and still uses, he pushes no individual company but some of the big named brands are mentioned e.g.. MSR, Optimums, Coleman, even some companies that you may have never herd of before.
Some of his backpacking trips have lasted months, and are over 1000 miles, with just minor stops for food & water.
All the equipment he mentions has all the weights mentioned, both in metric and imperial.

I'm glad that I stumbled across this book, its been an interesting and educational read.
